Whether you’re stepping inside its beautifully restored historic space filled with warm wood accents and elegant details or settling into a comfortable outdoor seat shielded by a convenient umbrella, the vibe is casual yet refined — a place where you can feel at ease while savoring every bite.
The menu is a celebration of hearty, elevated comfort food that tempts every craving imaginable. Signature dishes like the Cast Iron Skillet Chicken Pot Pie promise rich, flaky pastry encasing succulent, slow-cooked chicken and vegetables, releasing an irresistible aroma with every slice. Meat lovers will find bliss in the Rodeo Burger and the Royal Elk Meatballs, dishes bursting with bold, smoky flavors that pay tribute to Colorado’s game traditions. The Short Rib Stroganoff, braised gently for five hours in red wine and aromatic mirepoix, enveloped in creamy sour cream and dijon hints, delivers a comforting, velvety richness that warms from the inside out.
Pasta enthusiasts are equally rewarded here. The Cajun Pasta dazzles with its lively combination of blackened chicken breast, spicy sausage, and cavatappi noodles bathed in a parmesan chipotle cream sauce, punctuated by sautéed peppers and onions — a dish that sings with every forkful. Meanwhile, the Elk Meatball Linguine offers oversized, savory meatballs paired with perfectly al dente pasta, showcasing an elevated twist on rustic, hearty fare.
Start your meal with a tempting array of beginnings such as the smoky Campfire Wings, served with fresh carrot and celery sticks alongside a cool dill ranch, or indulge in the decadent Fig and Prosciutto Flatbread, where sweet preserves, creamy goat cheese, and peppery arugula come together with a balsamic glaze drizzle for an unforgettable bite.
Compliment your meal with a carefully curated selection of beverages, from the crisp, effervescent Topo Chico Sparkling Mineral Water to the uniquely flavorful Tommyknocker Craft Root Beer — perfect for cleansing the palate or adding that extra touch to your dining ritual.
Patrons consistently praise the attentive, knowledgeable staff who elevate every visit. Jeswin Wilson fondly remembers an exceptional server named Roro, whose recommendations enhanced his experience, while Jacklyn Cook highlights the accommodating and thoughtful service of waiter Cameron M., who personalized her meal to satisfy multiple cravings. The consensus is clear: West Saloon & Kitchen doesn’t just serve food; it creates memorable moments with each visit.
Whether you’re seeking a satisfying pre-show bite before catching a performance at the nearby Paramount Theater or a leisurely dinner to unwind after a day in Denver, West Saloon & Kitchen offers a delightful interplay of flavors, ambiance, and genuine hospitality that makes every meal feel like a special occasion.
A really nice, bussing place in downtown Denver. Had the green chili chicken sandwich here for the first time and it did not disappoint! My server Roro was great, attentive and dished out fantastic recommendations- huge shout out to Roro for making the experience a lot better. 10/10
Beautiful, spacious restaurant conveniently located on 16th Street next to the Paramount. It looks swanky but feels cozy. Scratch kitchen, good food, good drinks! The menu has a nice blend of CO classic comfort foods. The only thing that was a little confusing was the happy hour itself; we went on a Saturday, the server said at the end he got some of our things on happy hour, but we never saw a happy hour menu. Online (through the QR at the table), it was unclear what was included in happy hour on a Saturday. Otherwise, terrific, and we'll be back before our next show!
I went here for a light meal before a musical performance at the nearby Paramount Theater. This is an upscale yet very chill and relaxed eatery in downtown Denver. The decor is quite nice and a blend of class and yet has a homey feel to it. It is the kind of place you feel very comfortable in and yet has a bit of polish and pizazz. The building is antique and well kept with nice woodwork and embellishments. Our server was Thomas Russell and he was very professional and helpful in describing menu items and making recommendations. He was attentive throughout the meal and went the extra mile at times, such as offering extra pita chips with our appetizer and keeping the drinks full. We started off with the artichoke dip and it was delicious. It was served with pita chips, toasted bread, and carrots & celery. I next had the Colorado chili which has ground lamb meat, black and pinto beans, white cheddar cheese, and scallions. I also had the coleslaw. My guest had the steak & spinach salad. We both had plenty of food. I plan to return to further explore the menu. They have some very intriguing options such as Rocky Mountain Oysters, short rib stroganoff, and Elk meatballs. Our server Thomas told us they make everything from scratch and they are also a close knit family business, which is something I appreciate, as I worked in a similar type of atmosphere back in Scottsdale, AZ once upon a time. I go to quite a few shows these days and this is a great spot for a quick bite or to dive into a full meal. I will be back again.
We went twice on our stay. The first night they were super busy due to a lot of events in town and they were out of several things we wanted to order. That said, the waitress did a great job and was friendly and helpful. The pizza was fantastic, as were the pastas we tried. The chocolate cake was great. The second night they had what we wanted, the wings were great, the pasta was good again but unfortunately the rest of the food was average. Overall good experience and I will go back but be sure to get recommendations on what to choose
The whole experience was excellent!! The food was scrumptious and the staff was very accommodating! I sat outside while it was sprinkling and there was a very convenient umbrella fully covering me and my table. My waiter (Cameron M.) was very helpful. When I couldn’t choose between two options on the menu he found a way to allow me to try both. I purchased the Shroom Burger with a cracked pepper salmon side salad. The burger was juicy, rich, and cooked perfectly without skimping on the mushrooms and the salad was delicious with beets and perfectly cooked salmon. I was able to swap out the lettuce on my burger for spinach without any extra charge, and the cheesecake egg rolls were delicious but light. The well gin and tonic was better than many $12 varieties I’ve tried and was a steal at $7. I was able to get a tall cider at short prices due to happy hour. There was no awkwardness over me being a young woman dining alone, which is not always the case at other establishments. There was a small surcharge but a conveniently located note at the bottom of my receipt explained why and saved me the nerve inducing interaction of asking my server. Overall, a REALLY enjoyable experience, when I’m back in Denver this will ALWAYS be a stop.
Came here for dinner. Sat at the bar and service was quick and attentive. Great selection of local beers on tap. I had the Colorado Chili and the Campfire Wings. Both were great. The campfire wings had a unique grilled flavor that you don’t typically find on wings. Definitely recommend.
Went here with a large group of coworkers, and we got a wonderful, large table near the windows. The atmosphere is so welcoming and comfortable, rustic feel, cozy even though it's big. Our server was amazing, very attentive, super friendly and answered all our questions patiently. The food was amazing!! We shared some delicious and unusual appetizers, my favorites were the pork green chili and the elk meatballs. Both were very well seasoned, generous portions. Some of our items included the cream cheese burger, Mac and cheese, salmon, chicken pot pie, flatbread, cheesecake egg rolls (yummm!). The salmon was undercooked on the inside, but tasted good until that was discovered. When our server asked if there was something wrong with it, he was happy to take that off the bill and then give us two free desserts to share. Prices are reasonable, food is generous, service is outstanding!
This restaurant blew me away! The chicken pot pie was absolutely incredible. I had no idea it would be that good. I came in with a group of 11 of us and they went above and beyond for us. Our server, Dani, was so patient, attentive and friendly to all of us! She checked on us the perfect amount of times, split all of our checks and had the best attitude. I would absolutely ask for her again. The vibes here are great. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Denver!
